چکیده

Aquifers are a vital part of our water cycle and modeling groundwater flow is paramount for number environmental applications. Modeling requires the estimation aquifer properties, which mostly achieved by field pumping tests. Oscillatory tests involve repeated injection water, generates periodic head signal. We investigate equivalent hydraulic conductivity (Keq) in an oscillatory test with multi-frequency excitation. Synthetic data generated from numerical simulations heterogeneous aquifers inverse method applied to estimate Keq. The involves Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis obtaining spatial distribution amplitude then matching amplitudes using semi-analytical solution homogeneous dependence Keq on frequency view previous literature, has found increasing values higher frequencies. did not find this increase minor variations were observed appear be result error. implies that can used without any corrections dependence.

Comparison of Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity Estimated by Three Different Methods

This study compares saturated hydraulic conductivities (Ks) of three sandy soils such as coarse, medium and fine sand. The Ks was obtained using three different methods: empirical methods based on the grain size analysis, the relative effective porosity model (REPM), and breakthrough curve analyses based on tracer tests. Column drainage tests were performed to characterize the water retention p...

Oscillatory pumping wells in phreatic, compressible, and homogeneous aquifers

Oscillatory well pumping was proposed recently as a tool for hydraulic tomography. Periodic pumping at a few frequencies is carried out through vertical intervals along the pumping well and the periodic head is measured along a few piezometers. The paper presents an analytical solution for the head field in an unconfined aquifer of finite depth under the common assumptions of a linearized water...

Tensor hydraulic conductivity estimation for heterogeneous aquifers under unknown boundary conditions.

A physically based inverse method is developed using hybrid formulation and coordinate transform to simultaneously estimate hydraulic conductivity tensors, steady-state flow field, and boundary conditions for a confined aquifer under ambient flow or pumping condition. Unlike existing indirect inversion techniques, the physically based method does not require forward simulations to assess model-...

NMR Logging to Estimate Hydraulic Conductivity in Unconsolidated Aquifers.

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) logging provides a new means of estimating the hydraulic conductivity (K) of unconsolidated aquifers. The estimation of K from the measured NMR parameters can be performed using the Schlumberger-Doll Research (SDR) equation, which is based on the Kozeny-Carman equation and initially developed for obtaining permeability from NMR logging in petroleum reservoirs. T...
